TRUST PILOT- GIVE US A REVIEW

As our charity pitches for more funding, the funders need to show that we are worth it.

As of now, we score 4.8/5 (Excellent) on Trust pilot, but the number of reviews also counts.  LINK

We get (nearly always) glowing personal feedback, but they don’t (yet) get recorded.

As many as you can, if you do nothing else, add to our ratings on Trustpilot. Obviously, users of our services, not providers.

ITALY BEGINS STRIPPING SAME SEX PARENTS OF THEIR LEGAL CONNECTION TO THEIR CHILDREN

Italy begins stripping same sex parents of their legal connection to their children LINK

Following the election of the new far right government in Italy in October 2022, they have begun the process of stripping parental responsibility from one of the parents and removing their name from the birth certificate. The issue is reported in more depth in LGBTQ Nation LINK . Although this not a legal possibility in the UK, far too many separated parents find themselves limited to meaningless “contact arrangements” such as a monthly card or small gifts and living apart from their children. We often hear of children taken into care without one parent with PR being informed. In FNF we often have members who were unaware they were never registered as the father of their child. In the UK 22% of households with children are single parent households while the European average is 15% LINK

WHAT SHOULD BE PARENTAL ALIENATION CALLED

What should be Parental Alienation called? LINK

An early advocate of PA was Richard Gardner who proposed it as a ‘syndrome’ for inclusion in the American ‘Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.’ In brief, it was excluded. Quite correctly. It does not meet the tests for a mental health ‘syndrome’. Nor is the DSM a relevant authority for our purposes.  Its use relates to what can be used to claim for under US medical insurance policies.

This event, and others, are used to claim that PA ‘does not exist’ or ‘is not recognised’. See, for example, the related item here about the United Nations Human Rights Council, or the Manchester University Report.

We should follow CAFCASS example and refer to ‘alienating behaviours.’ Attitudes from a parent with control that might cause the children to say they do not want a relationship with the other parent. Even that, however, is open to criticism. It does not have to be deliberate or even conscious.

Children normally love and trust their parents. What would parenting be without it? The children may simply pick up what will please the parent with whom they live or spend most their time with. Who may be – and one hopes – a loved and loving parent in other ways.

Risk of Attachment Deficit Disorder at the Department of Education!

With the appointment of David Johnson MP as Minister for Children on 31 August, and assuming he is still there when this reaches you, the average life expectation in that post falls to a little under five months.

LEAVE A LEGACY IN YOUR WILL

Many of us use the help and support of FNF-BPM during our separation crisis and many leave us small gifts. We understand why. Separation is an extremely difficult time to be making long term financial commitments. Although membership is only £4 monthly (LINK), even that commitment can be a little daunting. But many of our clients do leave us a legacy in their will. Some of these turn out to be substantial once family have been taken care of.

Take a look at our FNF Guide to leaving a Legacy in your Will LINK. Give us a big surprise.
